Create a formula
- 1Open Payroll > Formula Builder.
- 2Enter a formula name payroll reviewers will recognize.
- 3Build the expression using component tokens such as [Basic Salary] so the formula can resolve against payroll components.
- 4Add a description when the formula needs policy context.
- 5Save the formula and confirm it appears in the saved formula list.
Edit a saved formula
- 1Use the edit action beside the saved formula that needs to change.
- 2Update the formula name, description, or expression in the form.
- 3Save the update.
- 4If the formula is assigned to components, review the confirmation modal before applying the change.
- 5After saving, assigned components are refreshed with the updated expression.
Assign a formula to a component
- 1Create or open a salary component with Component Type set to Formula.
- 2Select the saved formula that should drive that component.
- 3Confirm the source components used in the expression exist and are assigned where required.
- 4If the formula or percentage component is treated as Variable, payroll calculates it only for staff with a non-zero value in the variable usage upload.
- 5Save the salary component changes.
- 6Use the salary component sync preview if WiseWage prompts for employee component synchronization.
Unassign a formula from a component
- 1Use the Unassign Formula control to select an assigned component and remove its formula assignment.
- 2Alternatively, use the unlink action beside an assigned component in the saved formula list.
- 3Review the confirmation modal before applying the change.
- 4After unassignment, review whether the component should remain Regular or be edited again before payroll.
- 5Use salary component sync if WiseWage prompts for employee component synchronization.
Review formula impact
- 1Before payroll approval, generate a Custom Component Report for the formula component.
- 2Review the source component columns, final output, and calculation note.
- 3Download Salary Changes when comparing the current run to the prior approved month.
- 4Do not approve payroll until unusual formula movement has a documented explanation.
